Puppies rescue an abandoned baby in India after his parents abandoned him in a field at night, media reports.
Local people found the child on his way to work near the village of Saristal in the Lormi Tehsil in Bilaspur District of Chhattisgarh State in India. It was nestled in next to the puppies. The newborn was completely unharmed but was found without any clothes and the umbilical cord had not yet been removed.
Locals report how they found the child:
“It was about 11 a.m. when we found a newborn baby girl crying and lying next to the puppies. We panicked and notified the health department. The baby was then taken to hospital for further examinations.”
The people of the Indian village add:
“Probably the puppies and their mother herself kept the baby alive. In December, night temperatures drop. You could say the baby was very lucky.”
The baby, who has since been named Akansha, has been examined in the hospital and referred to the ChildLine Project, which will care for him. An investigation is currently underway and police are continuing to search for her parents.
